How do you go about booking a good band for a wedding?
My first advice would be get the details of a band that you have seen play at a pub gig or wedding function. Then they are a known entity to you already, which is always a good place to start.
If that is not possible – do your research. Look online for live wedding bands in your area and even though everybody emails now a days, I would suggest calling as you can get an idea of how professional people are by their phone manner.
Ask them for any testimonials from past clients and even better if you could talk to some one who has booked them in the past confidentially. They should have no problem with this request. Also ask if the band has any live gigs that you could come along to or failing that if they have any video footage or live recordings.

I’ve long been a fan of unique looking and oddball shaped guitars. My guitar room is full of these misfits of the guitar world. One such guitar is the Ibanez Black Eagle. This bass guitar was made by Ibanez in the seventies and was only produced for a couple of years and then permanently discontinued. But, the legend still remains intact for this old monstrosity.
The curled inward horns on the Black Eagle bass give it the unique look outside of its otherwise jazz-bass-like appearance. The pickguard is that of a black eagle and is another signature detail of the bass guitar. To this day I’m still not sure what the pearl inlays are supposed to be modeled after but they as well add to the overall uniqueness of the Ibanez Black Eagle bass.
The tone is that of a bass with drop tuning. This can attributed to the heavy slab of mahogany that the body is fabricated from. Add a solid maple neck and you’ve got one heavy guitar. One defect most complained about is the flaw in the headstock design which allowed it to break or crack. With a little endurance the weight can be gotten used to and you just have to be mindful of the delicate headstock joint.
Luckily I found one recently in perfect shape and it sits comfortably and safe in my showroom. It only gets used in a non-gig environment and that’s the way it will stay.
